Why do we have enlarged pores?
Pores are invisible when we have healthy skin. However, there are several factors that can cause pores to enlarge and become more noticeable, such as environmental, hormonal, and genetic factors. Below, we explain some of the reasons why you may have open pores:
Internal factors:
- Genetics
- Hormonal changes
- Aging
External factors:
- Environmental pollution
- Prolonged sun exposure
- Inadequate cosmetics
- Lack of facial cleansing and hydration habits .
Also, we must keep in mind that each skin type has a different kind of pore that influences how our skin looks, that is, its appearance, whether it is soft and smooth, whether it feels tight, dry, whether it is oily, etc.
How can you improve the pores on the nose and cheeks?
To improve the appearance of the pores on the nose and cheeks or reduce enlarged pores on the face, the most important thing is to keep the skin clean and well exfoliated with suitable products:
- Wash your face in the morning and at night: choose a natural facial cleanser, as it will respect your skin type. This is the first step to remove dirt and built-up oil from our pores.
- Remove your makeup before sleeping: not going to bed with makeup on helps prevent pores from clogging and blackheads or pimples from appearing.
- Choose creams, gels, or serums suitable: these should be organic and specifically designed for enlarged pores.
- Exfoliate your skin, but do not damage it: for this, you can use natural masks with exfoliating action to complete your skin care routine, or chemical exfoliants such as salicylic acid, which can enter the pore and dissolve the blackhead.
A key ingredient to close enlarged pores: retinol
One of the secrets for enlarged pores and removing shine from the face is retinol. Not only does it help eliminate active comedones (clogged pores and acne), but it is also beneficial for improving fine lines, wrinkles, and skin texture.
How can you have smoother, blemish-free skin?
How can you remove shine from the face and have smoother, blemish-free skin? In addition to following an appropriate cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, and protection routine, we recommend:
- Drink enough water, at least two liters a day, to hydrate the body and skin from within. Water helps eliminate toxins and maintain the elasticity and firmness of the skin and hair.
- Reduce stress levels and get enough sleep, as stress affects hormonal balance and sebum production in the scalp. Practicing relaxation techniques, exercising, and maintaining a regular sleep routine are some ways to combat stress.
- Protect your skin from external aggressions, such as the sun, cold, wind, pollution, or chlorine, which can dry out or irritate the skin and cause a seborrheic reaction. Use hats, caps, or scarves to cover your hair and apply products with sun protection factor to prevent damage caused by UV rays.
