Akigala Mandarino

At the heart, freesia, jasmine and lily of the valley soften the fruit with a clean white bouquet, more fresh-flowered than powdery. It is the stage where the perfume moves from sparkling to rounded, without losing the brightness of the opening.

Akigala Mandarino is an extrait de parfum by New Notes, the Italian house of HIC Beauty, based in San Giuliano Milanese, on the outskirts of Milan. It belongs to its Contemporary Blend Collection, which the brand itself describes as blends of emblematic essences from perfumery worked with divergent touches. On its website, it is now sold under the name A.K.M., with the same description and the same pyramid.

New Notes formulates its perfumes as extrait de parfum and explains it on a page titled The Final Ingredient: the skin is the final ingredient, because its chemistry and warmth change how each blend unfolds.

If what attracts you is the passion fruit in the opening, Cocktail Maracuja, from the same house, puts it front and center with blackcurrant, pear and strawberry, shares the jasmine in the heart and the amber in the base, and turns toward vanilla, cardamom and cinnamon.

Does Akigala Mandarino contain Akigalawood?

New Notes doesn’t say so: its pyramid mentions woody and amber notes in the base, without naming raw materials. The name does recall Akigalawood, an ingredient that the Swiss house Givaudan obtains from patchouli oil and that smells like spicy wood, with a hint of pepper. Several stores list it as a base note, but the brand does not publish the formula.

Yes. New Notes now sells Akigala Mandarino on its website under the name A.K.M., on the same page and with the same pyramid: mandarin, passion fruit, raspberry, and apple in the top; freesia, jasmine, and lily of the valley in the heart; woody and amber notes in the base.
