Vanille Leather is an eau de parfum from BDK Parfums signed by Dominique Ropion, and the Parisian house describes it as floral, amber, and woody, a tribute to Madagascar vanilla. Leather is an accord: BDK reconstructs it, smoky and woody, from oak essence and patchouli, and speaks of «an exalted vanilla leather».
Ropion explains that he wanted to mix the pod with a bouquet of white flowers so that it would gradually reveal its warm side: tuberose adds sulfurous and slightly honeyed tones, jasmine adds its powerful sweetness, and orange blossom rounds it out. The oak and patchouli are there, according to him, to intensify the trail.
Within the same house, Vanille Caviar takes vanilla to the amber and gourmand side, with cocoa, Peru balsam, and labdanum; Crème de Cuir makes a white, soft leather, like suede, with vanilla absolute in the base; and Velvet Tonka brings together Madagascar vanilla and tonka bean.
